Daniel Sturridge should move on from Liverpool in the summer transfer window, Reds legend John Aldridge believes.

The striker was shipped out of Anfield in the winter transfer window to West Brom, joining the Baggies on loan until the end of the season.

But he has made just five appearances in the Premier League for West Brom during the course of his loan spell, with familiar injury problems striking for the Liverpool contracted hitman.

Sturridge is likely to return to Liverpool in the summer, but Aldridge thinks it would be best all round if he looked for a new challenge.

The former Liverpool striker said on LFC TV: "It's probably best for the lad as well to move on and get game time.

"He's not going to move any one of the three [Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah] and he won’t [want to] sit on his backside."

Sturridge has scored just three goals this season across only 613 minutes of football, with his career now appearing to have gone badly off track.

Last season he managed three goals for Liverpool in the Premier League, but did hit four in the EFL Cup for the Reds.
