Rangers midfielder Graham Dorrans believes that the team need to win against Aberdeen to provide themselves with that much needed momentum to take into next season and in the process make sure that they make it to the Europa League.

The Gers have two games left in the season with the first of those to be played against Derek McInnes's team on Tuesday at Pittodrie.

The giants from Glasgow find themselves placed third in the league table and sit one point off second placed Aberdeen, having bounced back to winning ways against Kilmarnock at the weekend.

Bridging the gap will be important, according to the 31-year-old, as it will also boost Rangers' hopes of Europa League football.

"We've got two massive games left we need to win to make sure we get into the Europa League", the midfielder told Press Association Sport.

While insisting that a second-place finish is not good enough for Rangers, Dorrans added that the win against Kilmarnock this weekend has given them confidence and now they can look forward to a win at Pittodrie.

"Listen, second place for this club isn't really good enough.

"But the situation we're in at the minute means it's important we try and get it. It's important we try to get into Europe and give ourselves a platform for next season.

"We need to give ourselves that bit of momentum to take into the next season.

"Aberdeen have got good players and are a good side – but so are we.

"Obviously events over the last week or so have been difficult but on Saturday we stuck in and got the win against Kilmarnock.

"Hopefully that will give us a bit of confidence going up to Pittodrie."
