Rennes face being priced out of the race to sign Sunderland star Wahbi Khazri, who is currently finishing off a season-long loan at the French club.

Khazri moved from Sunderland to Rennes on loan last summer following the Black Cats' relegation from the Premier League and has been in senational form for the Ligue 1 outfit.

Sunderland are expected to sell Khazri outright this summer, on the back of another relegation, this time to England's third tier.

Rennes want to keep the Tunisia international, but according to French outlet Buzzsport, they are likely to quickly find themselves priced out of the race.

A host of clubs have been queuing up to take soundings on Khazri's situation and the financial cost of a deal in the summer.
