Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has indicated that he is not expecting to be part of Germany’s World Cup squad this summer.

The 26-year-old defender has not been at his best this season for Arsenal and has attracted heavy criticism for some of the big mistakes he has made at crucial junctures for the Gunners.

His form for club has reflected on his selection in the national team as well and he has not started a game for Germany since last July in the Confederations Cup and hass not played for them since October.

Mustafi was not part of the Germany squad for the friendlies leading up to the World Cup and while he was part of the squad that won it in Brazil in 2014, he is not expecting a trip to Russia this summer.

The centre-back revealed that Germany coach Joachim Low will hold talks with him soon when he visits London.

Asked whether he is expecting to be part of the Germany squad, the Arsenal defender told German magazine Sport Bild: “I am not expecting much.

“Of course I would like to be there.”

Asked if Low to spoke to him, Mustafi said: “He said that he keeps watching me.

"He will soon be coming to London when he will talk to me.”

Mustafi has 20 caps to his name for Germany but it seems his form at Arsenal is set to cost him a berth for the World Cup.
