Celtic defender Jack Hendry insists that he is going to take his opportunities with both hands whenever they come, no matter whether it is as a centre-half or as a right-back.

The youngster missed two chances as his team were held to a goalless draw by Kilmarnock at Celtic Park on Wednesday night.

Not fielded in his usual position at the heart of the defence, Hendry was instead played as a right-back by manager Brendan Rodgers in the match.

The 23-year-old insists that he didn't have any problem performing the full-back's role and will be ready to do it again whenever he gets an opportunity.

“I like centre-half but the gaffer has asked me to play right-back against Kilmarnock”, Hendry told his club's official website.

“Every time I can go out on the pitch for Celtic, I’m going to take it.

"If I have to go out and fill that role, then I feel I’m capable of doing it and I’ll take the opportunity with both hands."

According to Hendry, he is required to go high up on the pitch on occasions and it has been learning experience.

“Sometimes I’ve had to go a bit higher up the pitch. I haven’t really experienced that but it’s just about learning.

“Now, when I’m maybe playing centre-half in the future, I’ll have a better understanding of what the right-back’s going to do.

“For me, it’s another experience. It’s about trying to get as much information as possible and trying to learn from it."

The defender has featured in 32 league games this term with his overall appearances coming to 41.
