The father of Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir has denied suggestions that his son has agreed a deal to join Liverpool.

Considered one of the most talented young French players in Ligue 1, Fekir has been regularly linked with a move away from Lyon over the last few transfer windows.

Following returning successfully from a serious knee injury a couple of years ago, Fekir is said to be expected to leave Lyon in the summer and there were suggestions that €70m deal is in place to sell him to Liverpool.

First, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas came out vehemently denying the speculation and now the player’s family have denied that he is on the verge of joining Liverpool.

His father, Mohamed Fekir, brushed aside the speculation and insisted that he would have known if his son was on the verge of a big money move to Liverpool.

“I hear that there are talks and stuff like that. I was amazed to hear that about Nabil.

“I can deny this information right now, it’s not true. Otherwise, Nabil would have told me right away.

“We are very close.”

The 24-year-old has more than two years left on his contract with Lyon, but it has been claimed he has a verbal agreement with Jurgen Klopp to join Liverpool.
