Serie A side Lazio are plotting to open talks with Arsenal over signing striker Lucas Perez.

The Spanish hitman joined Arsenal from Deportivo La Coruna in the summer of 2016, but struggled for game time under Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium.

Perez returned to Deportivo on a season-long loan deal last summer and is expected to return to Arsenal this summer as his contract in north London runs until 2020.

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare is a big admirer of Perez, but last summer chose to bring in Nani on loan from Valencia rather than pushing for the Arsenal man.

Nani is heading back to Spain after failing to convince at Lazio and, according to Italian outlet Lalaziosiamoni, Tare is back on Perez's trail.

Lazio are soon expected to approach Arsenal to negotiate a deal to take Perez to Italy.

The Serie A side are likely to want Perez on loan with an option to buy and it is claimed the Arsenal striker is keen on making the move.
