Arsenal have been in contact with former Gunners skipper Patrick Vieira over succeeding Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium, but it is likely the Frenchman is not their first choice candiate.

The hunt is on at the Emirates Stadium to find a manager to replace Wenger, who is standing down at the end of the season after 22 years in charge.




A number of people have been linked with the job, including current New York City FC head coach Vieira, and according to the BBC, he has been contacted by the Gunners.

However, it is claimed that the sense is that Vieira will not be Arsenal's first choice for the manager's job.
 


Arsenal have been linked with Monaco's Leonardo Jardim, along with Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri; Allegri is due to meet Juventus officials at the end of the season to assess his future.

Manchester City coach Mikel Arteta has also been mooted as a contender, along with former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

It has been claimed in some quarters that Arsenal want to make an appointment before the end of May.
