Schalke star Nando has admitted he is sad at the way Arsenal and Liverpool linked Max Meyer is ending his career at the club, feeling the midfielder has contributed heavily in the current campaign.

Meyer has refused to sign an extension to a contract which expires in the summer and also accused Schalke of taking a bullying approach; he was suspended by the club and will play no part in the side's final Bundesliga game of the season today against Eintracht Frankfurt at home.

The midfielder has helped Schalke to a finish of second behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga and Naldo is sad to see him go.

And the veteran defender believes Meyer has played an important role for Schalke, operating as a traditional number 6 in midfield.

"It's really sad that we cannot enjoy our success together", Naldo told Sportbuzzer.

"It's important to remember that Max's good performances in the unfamiliar 6 position made a significant contribution towards our having had such a good season."

Meyer has been linked with a number of clubs, including Premier League pair Arsenal and Liverpool, and Naldo now wants the midfielder to find success whererever he goes.

"Max is still young and I wish him luck with his new club", the Brazilian added.

All eyes are now on where Meyer chooses to continue his career.
