Rangers legend Barry Ferguson has let slip that he would love it if Celtic's Kieran Tierney was on the books at Ibrox.

Transfer speculation is swirling around Tierney following suggestions that Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has made him a priority target for the summer window, raising talk of a Premier League move.

The Celtic left-back had been linked with Manchester United earlier this season, but interest from the Red Devils appears to have cooled as they focus on Juventus full-back Alex Sandro.

Ferguson, who let slip he would love it if Tierney was a Rangers player, does not believe Bournemouth are a suitable club for the Scotland international to move to and has urged him to set his sights on the top clubs down south.

"I think he is worth £20m, but for me, and I'm not being disrespectful to Bournemouth, I think he's better than that", Ferguson said on PLZ Soccer.

"I think Kieran Tierney should be aiming for top four in English football, a Man United, a Chelsea.

"If a Bournemouth come in I don't think he should even look that way.

"I do also think he should stay for, I was going to say Rangers – I wish we had him – at Celtic for a couple of years to get more games, a bit more experience and European football", the former Gers star added.

Tierney, 20, made his senior Celtic debut under former boss Ronny Deila in 2015 and has kicked on to become one of the top young talents in the Scottish game.
