Swansea City have been tipped to keep hold of Rangers and Leeds United target Olivier McBurnie and hand him a new contract to continue at the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans had their relegation from the Premier League to the Championship confirmed at the weekend and the Welsh giants are now to assess how to go forward as they bid to make an instant return to the top flight.

Attacker McBurnie was on loan at Barnsley this season and scored goals in the Championship, something which means he is hot property heading into the summer transfer window.

Leeds head coach and former Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom is a big admirer of McBurnie, while Steven Gerrard has been linked with wanting him at Rangers.

But according to the South Wales Evening Post's Andrew Gwilym, Swansea will look to keep McBurnie.

The expectation is for Swansea to hand McBurnie a new contract to continue at the Liberty Stadium as they look to give him the game time needed for him to provide the goals to power a promotion push.

McBurnie scored nine goals in 17 Championship games for Swansea this season.
