Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers insists that the long and gruelling season the Bhoys have had won't impact their performance against Motherwell on Saturday.

The newly crowned Scottish champions will play their final game of the season this weekend as they aim to make it a perfect campaign, getting their hands on a third piece of domestic silverware.

The former Liverpool manager concedes that it has been a gruelling season for Celtic, which eventually ended in a loss to Aberdeen on the final day of the season.

However, Rodgers also insists that he has full faith in his team and believes that the immediate result from the last game won't have any telling impact on their form against Motherwell.

“I don’t think it’ll be a factor for this coming weekend”, Rodgers told his club's official website.

“We obviously lost our last game and the team with the most need won the game.

"I have huge admiration for this group players as, when they’ve had to turn up, and we’ve had to be at our very best since I’ve been here, the players have played to a really high level and I expect the same this weekend.”

Rodgers was all praise for his team after being named the Manager of the Year, insisting that winning the league was tougher and so all the credit goes to the team and not just himself.

“It’s a reflection of the club as much as it is myself as manager.

"To win the league this year was again tough and tougher than last year."

The Hoops reached the final of the Scottish Cup by beating their rivals Rangers in the semi-final of the tournament.
