Ross McCrorie has admitted the Rangers fans deserve much better than they were served up by the team this season.

The Gers were hoping to push Celtic under Pedro Caixinha, but the Portuguese was sacked in October following a poor run of results and a number of his signings flopping.

Youth coach Graeme Murty tried to steer Rangers to second place and a Scottish Cup, but was himself sacked before the end of the campaign as the Gers eventually finished in third in the Scottish Premiership.

McCrorie admits that the fans deserve better and he has vowed to rest up to be able to hit the ground running under new manager Steven Gerrard.

He posted photographs of himself during the season on social media and wrote: "Season of ups and downs, fans deserve so much better!

"Time to rest up and get ready for next season", McCrorie added.

The Rangers youngster has been tipped for big things and is likely to be relishing the chance to earn from Liverpool legend Gerrard.

Gerrard takes charge at Rangers officially from 1st June and former Liverpool and Leeds United midfielder Gary McAllister will act as his assistant at Ibrox.

McCrorie can operate in defence and midfield, and it remains to be seen where Gerrard chooses to deploy him.
