West Ham are not currently prepared to meet Inter Milan’s asking price for midfielder Joao Mario and the two clubs are expected to soon meet to negotiate a transfer for the Portuguese.

The Hammers signed the 25-year-old on loan from Inter in the winter window, but the two clubs failed to agree a fee on which West Ham would have reserved an option to sign him on a permanent deal.




Mario has been a key player for West Ham as they avoided relegation under David Moyes and both the midfielder and the club are keen to continue their association.

The Hammers are prepared to sign him on a permanent contract, but for the moment an agreement with the Nerazzurri is still missing.
 


According to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, the east London club have shown an unwillingness in matching Inter’s €30m asking price for the 25-year-old midfielder.

However, West Ham are ready to push to reach an agreement and the two clubs are expected to meet soon to further conducts talks that could possibly unlock a deal.

Mario is keen to continue his adventure at the London Stadium and is hopeful that the two clubs will be able to strike an agreement over his transfer soon.

He featured in 13 Premier League games for West Ham and even found the back of the net twice.
