Manchester United have held informal talks with Willian’s representatives with a view to possibly signing the Chelsea winger in the summer transfer window, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Jose Mourinho has been a fan of the Brazilian since his days at Chelsea and has been more than keen to take him to Manchester United since he joined the club in 2016.

Chelsea have consistently refused to sell the Brazilian to the Old Trafford outfit, but it has been claimed Manchester United are again set to try their luck to take Willian to the north west of England.

It has now been suggested the Brazilian’s representatives have held preliminary discussions with Manchester United to gauge the possibility of concluding a deal this summer.

Mourinho has been unwilling to make any additions to his attacking options in the upcoming window, but the Manchester United manager is willing to make an exception for Willian.

The Brazilian will be turning 30 December, but his ability to play on the right flank is an attraction for Mourinho, who does not have a natural right winger in his squad at the moment.

His age is also not seen as a huge handicap as Manchester United believe he could be the perfect player to bridge the gap between academy talent Tahith Chong, who the club have huge hopes for.

Willian has a contract until 2020 with Chelsea, but there are suggestions that the club could feel they could realise the best value for him in the market this summer because of his age.
