The agent of Liverpool linked midfielder Jorginho has claimed that the ball is in Napoli’s court with regards to Manchester City’s interest in signing the Italy international.

The Napoli midfielder is one of Manchester City’s priority summer transfer targets and the club have already made their play to land the 26-year-old in the ongoing window.

However, the Citizens have met tough negotiators in Napoli, who have already rejected an initial €40m bid from Manchester City and want €60m before they agree to sell Jorginho.

Manchester City have so far refused to match Napoli’s asking price for the midfielder and his agent, Joao Santos, admits the ball is in now the Serie A giant’s court when it comes to his client’s future.

He is not anticipating any problems in agreeing personal terms with Manchester City should Napoli reach an agreement to sell the midfielder to the Premier League champions.

Speaking to calcionapoli24.it, Santos said: “The decision is up to Napoli, given he has two years left on his contract.

“If the club are to reach an agreement with City, then he will go to Manchester and then find an agreement between us and the club, which would not be a problem given their stature.

“But I repeat everything depends on [Napoli owner Aurelio] De Laurentiis.”

Napoli are not willing to sell their star player without extracting the best possible fee out of Manchester City, who want Jorginho on a priority basis.
