France Under-17 striker Mohamed Lamine Diaby has snubbed overtures from Liverpool and Juventus to agree a professional contract with Nice.

A product of the Nice academy, the youngster made his senior debut for the club this season in the Europa League against Dutch outfit Vitesse, with a 24-minute cameo.

A highly rated young talent, the youngster was on the scouting books of a number of big wigs and Nice were afraid of losing him to one of the top European outfits.

It has been claimed that Juventus and Liverpool were keeping tabs on the player and were keen to snare him away from Nice for a paltry compensation fee, but it seems the Ligue 1 club have managed to hold on to him.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, Diaby has agreed to sign a professional contract with Nice and the deal will be formalised over the coming weeks.

The youngster has decided to continue his development at Nice rather than pack his bags and move outside France to a big club early in his football career.

Diaby has been prolific for Nice’s academy sides and has also been a regular scorer for France’s youth sides, scoring eight goals in nine appearances for their Under-17 outfit.
