Manchester City loanee Patrick Roberts insists that it is the desire of every young player to play under a manager who has faith in them and in spite of missing out on a large chunk of action due to injury this term, being around Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has improved him.

Roberts is coming to the end of his two-and-a-half year stay at Celtic Park since joining initially on an 18-month loan spell in January 2016.




The 2016/17 season was good for the youngster, when he managed a total of 32 league appearances for the Scottish champions, scoring nine goals and also setting up 14 goals for his team-mates.

Injuries though curtailed Roberts' appearances this season, with his total coming to just eight in the Scottish Premiership. Roberts though insists that it has been a fruitful experience for him working under Rodgers, who always helps youngsters improve.

"This year I've been unfortunate with injuries but being around him has improved me as person as well and he's really brought my game on.”

Roberts will head back to England at the end of the season and in spite of the uncertainties regarding his future, is hopeful of going out with yet another piece silverware under his belt.
