Arsenal are considering making a move for Gianluigi Buffon, but Paris Saint-Germain are in pole position to sign him.

Buffon announced on Thursday that he will be leaving Juventus at the end of the season, but the 40-year-old has not confirmed whether he will be hanging up his goalkeeping gloves.

Liverpool have reportedly been interested in taking him to England, but for the moment PSG have shown a real willingness to sign the legendary goalkeeper this summer.

The French champions have offered a two-year contract to the veteran goalkeeper and there are suggestions Buffon is seriously considering moving to France.

However, there could be fresh Premier League interest in Buffon as well as according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal are also probing the situation with the Italian.

While they have not made any concrete moves, the Gunners are keen to know whether the Italian would consider moving to the Emirates during the ongoing transfer window.

Arsenal are expected to be in the market for a goalkeeper and a free transfer for Buffon could be seen as a major coup for the club following the end of Arsene Wenger’s era at the Emirates.

Buffon will make his last appearance for Juventus against Verona on Sunday.
