Kyle Bartley has informed Swansea City that he wants to leave the club in the summer with Leeds United and Rangers showing an interest in signing him.

The defender spent a season on loan at Leeds where the club came close to breaking into the Championship’s top six, but he returned to Swansea last summer.

The 26-year-old missed the early part of the season due to injuries and struggled to make an impact at the Liberty Stadium as Swansea suffered relegation.

The defender is claimed to have told the club that he wants to leave the Welsh club in the summer and Swansea are prepared to sell him if they receive the right price for him.

Leeds have been interested in taking him back to Elland Road and according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Whites are the centre-back’s first choice.

However, the Yorkshire club could face serious competition from Glasgow giants Rangers, who are also showing an interest in the Manchester-born defender, who also has a loan spell at Ibrox to his name.

Steven Gerrard is keen to restructure the Rangers squad in the summer and it has been claimed that Bartley has emerged as a viable target for the club in the ongoing transfer window.

For the moment Leeds are the favourites because of the player’s personal preference, but they will need to match Swansea’s asking price for the defender.
