West Ham full-back Pablo Zabaleta has asked for more consistency from his team as they aim to finish within the Premier League's top eight every season.

The Hammers had a disappointing 2017/18 season when they were forced to fight relegation eventually finishing as the 13th placed team nine points clear of the relegation zone.

The 33-year-old, who joined West Ham last summer and witnessed all the ups and downs throughout the season, insists that things did not go right for the Hammers this time around.

According to the former Manchester City man, the aim for a team as strong as they are should be to fight for a European place.

As far as their aim for next season is concerned, Zabaleta said that they will try to finish within the top eight and try to be there on a consistent basis.

“Hopefully we can learn from this season, not repeat the same mistakes, be more consistent as a team, and have the right ambition and attitude to fight for a European place", Zabaleta told his club's official website.

“Let’s try to be in the top eight, which in my point of view this club should be every season."

Zabaleta and his team are now waiting for the appointment of a new manager after David Moyes left the club at the end of the season after the board decided not to renew his contract.
