Former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira is close to agreeing to take over as coach of French Ligue 1 side Nice.

The south coast club are looking for a new coach following the departure of Lucien Favre, who has been tipped to take charge of Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund on a two-year contract.

Nice finished their Ligue 1 campaign in eighth spot on Saturday after a 3-2 loss away at Lyon.

Vieira has been linked with the vacant managerial post at Arsenal, but his return to the European scene looks set to come back in his native France.

According to Yahoo France, Nice have indicated that an agreement for Vieira to become their next coach is now imminent.
