Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach have ended their pursuit of Liverpool youngster Rhian Brewster.

The 18-year-old striker is considered one of the brightest young prospects in the Liverpool ranks and the club are keen to see him progress to play first team football for the Reds.

Brewster caught the attention of many with his goalscoring exploits in India for England Under-17s during the World Cup last year and has been on the radar of several clubs.

Gladbach briefly considered signing the striker and there were suggestions that they even got in touch with his agent to probe the possibility of a transfer.

But Liverpool reacted furiously at the German club trying to tempt the youngster, who has a contract until next year with the Reds, and cancelled a pre-season friendly with Gladbach.

And it seems the German outfit have understood the futility of the move as according to German magazine Kicker, the club are no longer in pursuit of the young Liverpool striker.

It seems the Reds have managed to keep Brewster out of the hands of the Bundesliga outfit for the time being.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool look to tie him up on a longer term contract in the coming months.
