Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is locked in a meeting with former Chelsea and Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti.

De Laurentiis wants Ancelotti to take charge of Napoli next season and is working overtime in a bid to thrash out an agreement with the experienced tactician.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato.it, the pair have been locked in talks at Napoli's offices and De Laurentiis is looking to reach an agreement.

It has been claimed De Laurentiis has offered Ancelotti a two-year contract with a salary of between €4m and €5m plus bonuses.

Current Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri led the side to second spot in Serie A this season, but he has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

The Blues are claimed to see Sarri as a possible successor to Antonio Conte and would have little trouble meeting the €8m release clause in his Napoli contract.

If Napoli land Ancelotti, it would open the door for Sarri to leave the club this summer.

Sarri has already admitted that if he leaves Napoli then he will not take charge of another Italian club next season, in a further sign he may be Chelsea bound.
