Unai Emery appears to have confirmed his appointment as Arsenal manager. 

The Spaniard, whose contract at Paris Saint-Germain was not renewed at the end of this season, has been widely linked with succeeding Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium.




And Emery appears to have jumped the gun by announcing his move to Arsenal before the club have themselves.

The Spaniard updated his personal website to an image of himself with the text: "Proud to be part of the Arsenal family."
 


It had been though that Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta would be given his first job in management by the Gunners after impressing during an interview process.

But Arsenal have plumped for Emery, who also counts Valencia, Spartak Moscow and Sevilla amongst his former managerial assignments.

He will take charge of a club that finished sixth in the Premier League standings this season and will be again playing Europa League football in the forthcoming campaign.
