Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has rubbished suggestions that his side have less desire or hunger for success than their Champions League final opponents Liverpool.

The Merseyside giants have produced some shock results in this season’s Champions League to reach the final of the competition where they will face Real Madrid in Kyiv on Saturday night.

While the Spanish giants are eyeing their third consecutive European crown, Liverpool have made it to the final after 13 years and many believe the Reds could be hungrier for success than the reigning European champions.

The Liverpool squad and their manager Jurgen Klopp have already been lauded for the spirit they have shown, but Zidane believes it would be wrong to question his side’s desire.

He stressed that Real Madrid as a club are known for their hunger for success and that has not diminished in any way despite their recent domination of the Champions League.

Los Blancos' coach insisted that no one can question his team’s desire to achieve more success and more trophies.

Asked if Liverpool are the hungrier team, Zidane said in a press conference: “I cannot say tell you about our opponents, I don’t know what they have.

“What I can say that we are going to have the same hunger.

"This club has always been like this – the same enthusiasm, dedication and desire as always and nobody can take that away from us or tell us that we are less hungry than others.

“No one.

“We are Madrid and this club are what they are.

“We always want more and we will do everything to try do things in the best way possible.”

After finishing third in the league table, 17 points behind champions Barcelona, Real Madrid are desperate to end the season on a high with their 13th Champions League crown.
