Celtic new Bhoy Lewis Morgan has insisted that he looks up to first-teamers such as Callum McGregor and James Forrest at the club, as he aims to get going at the highest level.

The 21-year-old, a product of Rangers' youth academy, was snapped up by the Bhoys in January this year, but was immediately loaned back to St Mirren, the club from which he signed.

Earning praise for his performance in the Scottish Championship which helped him win the Championship Player's Player and the Player of the Year awards, the young winger now hopes to make his mark in the Scottish Premiership.

The task is going to be difficult given the kind of competition on offer at Celtic Park, but the 21-year-old hopes that he can emulate the likes of McGregor and Forrest, both of whom have broken through to the first team, in spite of their young age.

"Since I signed a deal in January I've been champing at the bit to get going", Morgan was quoted as saying by STV.

"We have a few weeks off then we'll be ready to go for pre-season. I'm really looking forward to it.

"I've got to look up to guys likes Callum McGregor and James Forrest who've broken through here and become part of the first team.

"The manager has got an ethos of bringing through young players and making sure they're mainstays of his team.

"You can see how successful they have been and how many homegrown lads were part of that – that was definitely a selling point for me.

"Hopefully I can be the next one."

Morgan managed a total of 35 appearances in the Championship for St Mirren, scoring 14 goals and also helped set up nine goals for his team-mates.
