Lazio have made initial contact to probe the possibility of signing Liverpool linked winger Thomas Lemar this summer.

Lemar’s future at Monaco has been under the scanner for over a year and he came close to leaving the club last summer when Liverpool and Arsenal were trying to sign him.

The Frenchman has again been linked with a move away from Monaco in the ongoing window, with Liverpool still believed to be interested in taking him to Anfield.

However, there is fresh Italian interest in Lemar and according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Lazio are trying to probe the possibility of taking him to the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

Intermediaries, working on behalf of Lazio, have been in contact with the player and his representatives and are working on a deal to snare him away from Monaco.

However, the deal is expected to be a complicated operation, not only because of the level of interest in Lemar, but Monaco’s financial demands are expected to be huge.

Monaco demanded a fee worth €100m for the winger last summer and the figure is not expected to differ much a year later.

Lemar wants to leave Monaco and now he has an option in Italy to consider.
