Leeds United have cooled their interest in Carpi striker Jerry Mbakogu as they look to pursue Hull City striker Abel Hernandez.

The Serie B striker has long been on Leeds’ radar and the club even have an agreement in place with Carpi to sign the player in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The president of Carpi, Stefano Bonacini, recently revealed that Leeds have until the end of next month to activate the option on Mbakogu, but for the moment the Whites are not making any decisive move.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Yorkshire giants have cooled their interest in the striker over the last month and are now keener on pursuing Hull’s Hernandez.

The 27-year-old striker is out of contract in the summer and has refused to sign a new deal with Hull, opening up an opportunity for a free transfer.
