Belgium Under-21 coach Johan Walem believes that normally Charly Musonda would have walked straight into the Celtic starting eleven.

Musonda linked up with Celtic on an 18-month loan deal from Chelsea in the January transfer window, but struggled to command a spot in the side and looks set to have his loan terminated in the summer.

Former Parma midfielder Walem, who has been in charge of Belgium's Under-21s since 2016, is concerned about Musonda as he feels that in normal circumstances the player would have been handed a regular spot in the team by Brendan Rodgers.

He told Sport/Voetbalmagazine: "I saw the Scotsmen at work in the Champions League against Anderlecht and came to the conclusion: normally Musonda must always play in that team.

"That did not happen and I determined that he is again a concern", Walem added.

Musonda, 21, spent time on loan in Spain with Real Betis last season before returning to Chelsea last summer, where he was determined to fight for a spot in the first team.

But Musonda was forced to concede defeat when leaving to join Celtic on loan in the January window.

It remains to be seen what the attacker's next move is this summer if, as expected, his loan at Celtic is terminated.
