Atletico Madrid are considering signing Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata this summer as a replacem
ent for Antonio Griezmann.

Griezmann is expected to join Barcelona in the ongoing transfer window and the Catalan giants are soon expected to activate the €100m release clause in his contract.

Atletico Madrid are aware that they are about to lose the French forward and have gone to work to find a replacement for the player before the start of the new season.

And according to Italian daily Tuttosport, the club are probing the possibility of signing Morata from Chelsea in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Spaniard is reportedly keen to leave Chelsea after just one season, where he struggled to carve out a regular place in the starting eleven despite being the club’s record signing.

Juventus have been interested in re-signing the player and the striker and his representatives met their sporting director Fabio Paratici in Milan on Wednesday for further talks.

However, Juventus could now face stiff competition from Atletico Madrid, who will have the means to meet Chelsea’s asking price once Griezmann joins Barcelona.

Morata’s history with Real Madrid is not a huge cause of concern for the Los Colchoneros, who are keen to seek a replacement for Griezmann soon.
