Newcastle United have offered Celtic target Chancel Mbemba to Anderlecht during negotiations to sell goalkeeper Matz Sels to the Belgian giants this summer.

Anderlecht have been in advanced talks with Newcastle for the signature of Sels, who spent the season on loan at the Belgian giants, and the club have been confident of getting a deal over the line.

Sels has already agreed a five-year contract with Anderlecht and is now waiting for the club to reach an agreement with Newcastle, who are claimed to be keen to sell one more player to them.

According to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, the Magpies have offered to sell centre-back Mbemba to Anderlecht and are prepared to let him go in a combined deal with Sels.

The 23-year-old Congolese defender has been a bit part player at Newcastle this season and the club are keen to sell him in order to get him off their books and make space on the wage bill.

Mbemba has also been a target for Scottish champions Celtic and the defender, who joined Newcastle from Anderlecht in 2015, has been reportedly unwilling to move back to Belgium.

Standard Liege are also interested in signing the player but for the moment Anderlecht have been given an opportunity to sign the Congolese centre-back.

It remains to be seen whether the player agrees to return to Anderlecht if a deal is agreed between the two clubs.
