Everton are keen for Wayne Rooney to meet their new director of football Marcel Brands and their new manager before taking a decision on his future.

Rooney has agreed a deal in principle to join MLS outfit DC United this summer and has a contract offer until 2020 from the club.

Everton have given permission to the striker to meet DC United officials and he travelled to the United States on Wednesday on a fact finding mission and to take a look at the facilities.

However, it has been claimed that Everton are still keen for him to stay on Merseyside next season and according to the BBC, they want Rooney to meet their new hierarchy before taking a decision on his future.

The Toffees have appointed a new director of football in Brands and are expected to confirm former Watford boss Marco Silva as their new manager as soon as possible.
