Manchester United are considering signing Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini as their second midfield addition this summer, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The Premier League giants are expected to complete a move for the signature of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred by the start of next month, but Jose Mourinho is eyeing more additions.

A second midfielder is on Manchester United’s transfer wish list as Marouane Fellaini is likely to leave the club on a free transfer and Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been a target.

However, with Lazio expected to demand a huge transfer fee, it has been claimed Manchester United feel the eventual cost of a move for the Serbian is going to be too expensive.

Now the Red Devils have turned their attention towards another Serie A midfielder in Roma’s Pellegrini this summer.

Pellegrini, 21, is being seriously looked at by Manchester United as an option to re-energise their midfield for next season.

He has a contract until 2022 with Roma.
