Former Leeds United star Dominic Matteo has lauded Andrea Radrizzani for attracting fresh investment to the club from the San Francisco 49ers.

The Yorkshire giants confirmed early on Thursday morning that the American Football outfit have acquired a minority state, claimed to be more than 10 per cent, at Leeds for a sum of between £8m and £10m.

Radrizzani has been in talks to sell a minority stake at Leeds after he took full control of the club earlier this year and has managed to attract investment from the United States.

As part of the deal, 49ers executive Paraag Marathe will join the club’s board of directors and Leeds are hopeful of using the extra funds to further develop the club and the team.

Matteo reacted positively to the news of fresh investment at Leeds and credited Radrizzani for trying to take the club further forward ahead of the new season.

It remains to be seen whether the fresh investment from the United States will beef up Leeds’ summer war chest as they look to improve the squad for the new season.
