AC Milan are still in the race for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini even though negotiations have slowed down in recent days.

Fellaini is likely to leave Manchester United on a free transfer despite Jose Mourinho’s last ditch efforts to keep him at Old Trafford on a new contract.

The Belgian has been on the radar of several clubs in Europe, with sides such as Roma, Juventus, Marseille, Galatasaray and Besiktas all showing an interest in signing him.

The 30-year-old’s status as a free agent is an attractive proposition for many clubs and even AC Milan have been in talks to take him to the San Siro in the ongoing transfer window.

However, impending sanctions from UEFA for breaking Financial Fair Play rules have put a spanner in AC Milan’s plans to sign the Belgian and talks have slowed down as the Rossoneri wait for the governing body’s decision.

But according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.it, the Serie A giants have not completely given up on their hopes of signing the Manchester United midfielder and still pursuing him this summer.

While the impending sanctions have made things complicated for the Milanese club, they are still working on a deal to possibly to take Fellaini to the San Siro.
