Olivier Giroud has indicated that very few people expected him to do well when he decided to join Chelsea from Arsenal in the January transfer window.

The striker was desperate to play regular football after being a second choice striker for the first half of last season at Arsenal and he pushed through a move to Chelsea in the winter window.

Giroud managed to displace the club’s record signing Alvaro Morata as their first choice striker and even started the FA Cup final against Manchester United at the end of the campaign.

The striker is looking forward to doing well for France in the World Cup and admits that the way his season ended has allowed him to be a lot more confident ahead of the tournament in Russia.

Giroud feels he managed to impose his personality on Chelsea in a very short period of time, something very few peopled backed him to do when he decided to switch clubs in January.
