Chelsea are prepared to trigger the mammoth release clause in Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi’s contract, it has been claimed.

The Inter captain played a pivotal role in the club finishing in the top four in Serie A this season with his performances and goals up front for the Nerazzurri.

Scoring 29 goals in 34 appearances in the league, Icardi was one of the top marksman in Europe last term and has netted 53 Serie A goals in the last two campaigns.

Juventus have been recently linked with an interest in the striker, but it has been claimed that Inter are facing the serious threat of losing Icardi to the Premier League this summer.
