Everton have joined the transfer chase for Inter midfielder Joao Mario, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Mario spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham and the Hammers are interested in signing the midfielder on a permanent contract this summer.

Inter are also prepared to sell the player in the ongoing window, but it has been claimed that Mario’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, is prepared to wait until after the World Cup to finalise his client’s transfer.

According to Italian outlet FcInterNews, Everton have joined West Ham in the race for the midfielder and are interested in taking him to Goodison Park in the ongoing window.

Incoming Everton manager Marco Silva is said to admire the Portuguese midfielder and will consider signing him once he takes charge in the coming days.

However, there is also interest from West Ham and Manchester United in Mario and there are suggestions that a bidding war could ensue after the World Cup for the Inter midfielder.

Inter are relishing the prospect of a number of clubs wanting Mario and believes they could maximise their profit as they are expecting to drive up his asking price after the World Cup.

West Ham are keen to have Mario back in their squad next season but it seems they will have to fight hard to sign him this summer.
