Former Celtic midfielder Liam Henderson is closing in on a switch to newly promoted Serie A side Parma.

Henderson, who came through the youth ranks at Celtic and made 37 appearances for the Scottish giants, headed to Italy to sign for Serie B club Bari in January this year.

His performances in the Italian second tier have caught Parma's eye and the club want him to add to their squad for next term, when they will play in Serie A.

They are now on the brink of signing Henderson, according to Italian daily the Corriere del Mezzogiorno.

Henderson, 22, has made 18 appearances in Serie B for Bari this season, chipping in with two goals and two assists for his team-mates.
