Inter are set to offer a new and improved contract to Manchester United and Manchester City linked defender Milan Skriniar to keep his suitors at bay this summer.

The centre-back, signed from Sampdoria last summer, was one of the most impressive defenders on display this season in Serie A and played a key role in Inter finishing in the top four.

His assured performances at the heart of Inter’s defence have not gone unnoticed as a number of European heavyweights have been queuing up to make a move for him this summer.

Manchester United and Manchester City regularly watched the Slovakian defender last season and Inter reportedly recently rejected bids from the Premier League giants.

The Nerazzurri are aware of the level of interest in Skriniar and are moving quickly to make sure they manage to hold on to him for the time being.

According to Italian outlet FcInterNews, the club have prepared a new five-year contract for Skriniar with a considerable wage hike, in line with his performances last season.

If the defender agrees to put pen to paper on a new deal, the Slovak would earn a salary of around €2.5m per season at the San Siro.

Skriniar has given little indication that he wants to leave and with Champions League football next season, Inter are confident of keeping the Slovak at the club beyond the summer window.
