Liverpool want to secure a deal to sign Lyon star Nabil Fekir before the start of the World Cup next month.

Fekir has emerged as one of Liverpool’s top priorities this summer and they have already been in talks with Lyon to reach an agreement over a fee for the French star.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is a tough negotiator and has been left unimpressed by the initial €60m offer from the Reds.

However, it seems Fekir is set to push for a move and it has been claimed that the player has already told the Lyon president that he wants to move to Merseyside this summer.

And according to French broadcaster Canal+, Liverpool are also looking to get the deal over the line as soon as possible and secure Fekir’s signature before the World Cup starts.

Fekir has been named in France’s World Cup squad and it seems the player wants to sort out his future before he travels to Russia with his national team squad.

Lyon are believed to be keen on dragging the negotiations beyond the World Cup as they believe Fekir’s showing in Russia could drive up his asking price.

Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are also interest in the player and even Bayern Munich have expressed their desire to sign the Frenchman this summer.
