Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is hopeful of Chinese clubs getting involved in the chase for midfielder Mousa Dembele, who is wanted by Serie A giants Inter Milan.

The 30-year-old midfielder has a year left on his contract with Spurs and the Belgian has so far refused to put pen to paper on a new deal offered by the north London club.

Despite his contract situation, Tottenham are interested in holding on to the player this summer but are facing pressure from Inter, who are keen to take him to Italy.

Inter have reportedly made an initial bid of €10m for the player, a figure well below the €30m mark which Tottenham are demanding for Dembele this summer.

Tottenham are aware that Dembele’s contract situation makes it difficult for them to demand a higher transfer fee and according to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, chairman Levy is keen to see clubs from the Chinese Super League get involved to drive up the price.

Dembele has his suitors in China, with Beijing Guoan believed to be interested in signing the Belgian midfielder this summer.

However, no concrete moves have been made from Asia and for the moment Inter are the ones putting in all the legwork to take Dembele away from Tottenham.

The midfielder is considering a move to Italy but is only expected to arrive on a decision regarding his future after the World Cup.
