New Everton manager Marco Silva has indicated that he can do little about the speculation surrounding his interest in signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.

The Portuguese midfielder has been linked with a move away from Sporting Lisbon over the last few years but despite all the rumours, he has continued to stay put in Portugal.

His future at the club has come under a fresh scanner this summer due to all the problems the club are dealing with at the moment following an attack on a few players and their coaching staff by fans last month.

William is claimed to be considering a move and Silva is reportedly keen to take him to Everton as he turns a fresh page on his coaching career this summer.

However, the Everton boss remained non-committal on his interest in the midfielder and stressed that he can do very little about the speculation at the moment.

“I know what has been said”, Silva told Sport TV when asked about his interest in William.

“But they will talk about [Andre] Carrillo and some other players, who I like a lot.”

Leonardo Jardim is also a fan of William and is said to be keen to take his compatriot to Monaco this summer.
