Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton are facing competition from Roma for the signature of Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Switzerland international has conceded he is to leave Stoke this summer following the club's relegation from the Premier League and has a release clause set at around the £12m mark in his contract.

Tottenham and Southampton are both keen and Shaqiri has admitted he would like to remain in the Premier League, but he is set to be given a tempting option to move abroad.

Roma sporting director Monchi is weighing up a bid for Shaqiri, according to Italian outlet Calcionews24.com, and believes his characteristics suit the Giallorossi.

Monchi is on the lookout for a winger and believes that Shaqiri may fit the bill.
