Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus target Matthijs de Ligt admits that he is aware of interest from many clubs, but is still not sure about being wanted by specific sides.

The 18-year-old centre-back has emerged as one of the brightest young defenders in Europe and Ajax are struggling to convince him to continue at the Amsterdam ArenA.

He is generating interest from clubs such as Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven, but Tottenham and Juventus have reportedly gone head-to-head to snare him away from Ajax.

The north London club are said to have made a big money offer and Juventus are believed to have taken De Ligt on a tour of their facilities in order to convince him to move to Italy.

The Dutchman stressed that he is not aware of interest from any specific clubs, but admits that he has been told that a number of big teams have got in touch with Mino Raiola, his agent, regarding him.

He told Italian outlet Tutto Mercato: “I know that many clubs have come to Mino Raiola for me and they told me this.

“I don’t know whether they are Juventus or PSV Eindhoven, but there is nothing for sure.”

The defender also insisted that he is not in touch with any of his suitors at the moment.

“I am not in touch with anyone yet. I am with the national team and I am focused on this.

“Of course it’s an honour to be linked with big clubs, but doesn’t change anything for me.”
