Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has confirmed his interest in Arsenal linked defender Abdou Diallo this summer.

The French defender has emerged as a coveted young defensive talent in the ongoing window, with a number of clubs interested in snaring him away from Mainz.

He has been on Arsenal’s radar this summer and Lyon have been working frantically hard to convince Diallo to return to France before the start of the new season.

The Mainz centre-back has also been Dortmund’s top target and coach Lucien Favre has been personally trying to convince him to move to the Westfalenstadion this summer.

And Zorc admitted that the club are indeed interested in signing the Mainz defender.

The Dortmund deal-maker told German magazine Kicker: “It is no secret that I find Diallo interesting.”

The defender seemed nailed on for a move to Dortmund before he took some more time to deliberate over his options and returned to France on Tuesday night.

Diallo will visit Lyon’s facilities later this week to assess the possibility of joining the French giants.

It remains to be seen if Arsenal make a late dash for his signature.
