Xherdan Shaqiri is undergoing a medical on Merseyside this morning ahead of his proposed transfer to Liverpool.

Liverpool have agreed a deal with Stoke for the signature of the Switzerland winger and are committed to pay a fee of £13.75m to the recently relegated Championship outfit.

Shaqiri also generated interest from Serie A with Lazio keen on signing him, but the player decided to continue playing his football in England and vouched for a move to Liverpool.

The 26-year-old has cut short his holidays after the World Cup and arrived in England last night to complete the formalities of his transfer to Anfield.

And according to the Liverpool Echo, the winger is currently undergoing a medical on Merseyside ahead of his proposed switch to the Reds this summer.

Shaqiri is set to sign a contract with Liverpool once the medical checks are done and is on the verge of joining Jurgen Klopp’s side in the coming hours.

Following Stoke’s relegation from the Premier League last season, it was largely expected that the winger would find a way out of the bet365 Stadium.

He scored eight goals and provided seven assists in Stoke’s doomed 2017/18 league campaign.
