Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti is leaning towards a move for Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian, but the club are wary of the potential costs of the deal.

The 28-year-old defender has made it clear that he wants to leave Manchester United this summer and his preference is for a move back to Italy in the coming days.

Despite interest from Juventus, the transfer seems unlikely as the Italian champions have struggled to reach an agreement over a fee with Manchester United.

Napoli have emerged as a possible destination for Darmian and the club are interested in signing him on a loan deal with an option to buy this summer.

But according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.it, Napoli are wary of the potential financial figures of the deal and are not keen to do a deal under the current conditions.

They are in no mood to either meet Manchester United’s €20m asking price or agree to Darmian wage demands of around €2m per year.
