Crystal Palace have probed the possibility of signing Monaco defender Almamy Toure in the ongoing summer transfer window.

A product of the Monaco academy, the 22-year-old defender already has 75 senior appearances under his belt and fought for a place in the starting eleven with France international Djibril Sidibe last season.

He has entered the final year of his contract and negotiations between his representatives and Monaco over a new deal have not progressed smoothly.

Monaco have made it clear that they want to resolve the situation, but are aware that they are in danger of losing the defender in the transfer market.

Nice were interested in Toure before signing another right-back, but according to French daily L’Equipe, the main threat to Monaco is coming from the Premier League.

Crystal Palace have been keeping tabs on the defender and have already been in touch with Monaco over the possibility of taking Toure to England this summer.

The defender himself is in no hurry to take a decision on his future and wants to consider all his options before taking a final call.

Despite being from Mali, Toure has a French passport and it makes him ripe for a move to England as his suitors would not need to obtain a work permit.
